Or, you can enter values for the LAYEREVALCTL system variable, 0 (Zero) being off. In the “Layer Settings” window, simply uncheck “New Layer Notification” and it won’t bother you anymore! There may be another cog symbol further to the right whose tooltip is “Properties”, that’s the wrong one. In the Layer Properties Palette, look closely in the upper right corner for a cog type symbol whose tooltip is “Settings”. To disable this notification is rather simple. In a nutshell, I recommend using this tool along with the CAD Management tools when the drawings of the project enter the CD (Construction Drawings) stage, about the 80% milestone. Some users don’t quite understand how to properly use the Layer Reconciliation tool and as a result, are seeing the rather annoying notification without an appreciation for what it means can be disruptive. But it was implemented wrongly (in my opinion), in that the default behavior for the Layer Reconciliation Notification was ON. I for one (one of the few) was excited about it when it was introduced in AutoCAD 2008. Layer Reconciliation is an important part of CAD Management (along with the tools found on the CAD Standards panel of the Manage Ribbon Tab). Justification: Explaining the concept behind Layer Reconciliation and its proper use is a too deep of a topic to be covered in such a short blog. Disclaimer: This blog entry is NOT about Layer Reconciliation, but about managing the Layer Reconciliation notice.
